Data Security

Data stored on media devices may contain client information, customer data, employee information, trade secrets, industry advantages, financial data, personal information, and more.  This concern is taken very seriously by American Asset and we use only the best procedures to assure your data is expunged. Our data sterilization process adheres to the Department of Defense (DOD) standards 5220.22-M.  This process is run three times over to ensure data is unable to be recovered.

American Asset uses only proven methods to erase data. All data holding assets enter through our in-house data erasure procedures and come out clear of all data. The program used for data erasure uses a combination of ones and zeros to every sector of the drive and is followed by random characters on the third pass. This process is run in-house and only by our trained technicians. All assets receive a data erasure prior to testing and are never booted before the erasure procedure.

An important part of data erasure is not just the procedure used to remove the data but the systems in place to ensure the erasure was successful. American Asset recognizes this issue and has two quality control procedures to ensure data is properly removed. Our first quality check takes place immediately after the data erasure is completed. After the last erasure pass a report is generated on each device displaying the results of the removal. This report will mark the erasure pass or fail. All data holding devices that fail are removed and physically destroyed before they are sent to be shredded. Passing devices are marked and permitted to move on in our process.

Our second quality assurance procedure is performed next. An in-house auditor will select items at random for an internal check. Units are checked for any remaining data before they proceed. This process helps us to ensure the highest standards are always met and never compromised.

We also offer onsite data destruction services for those who would like an extra level of security. This onsite service includes onsite erasure, destruction, and marked sealed container transportation. Please contact one of our sales representatives for more information on these services.
